NGC 1398 Galaxy (NGC 1398)

A barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Fornax.
I suddenly wanted to see the Face On galaxy, so I found this galaxy in a convenient location for photographing at this time of year.
The day I started photographing, Mike Salby, a world-class DSO photographer living in Thailand, shared the same target.
I'm nowhere near as skilled in equipment or processing, but I often use Mike's photos as reference.
The characteristics of this galaxy are
1. Its structure is more like a ring than a spiral.
2. The rings have a braided structure.
3. The ring near the center is lined with thin, scale-like dark lanes.
4. Small Hii regions are scattered throughout.
Of these, I was only able to capture features 1 and 2.

ろ座にある棒渦巻き銀河。

無性にFace Onの銀河見たくなりこの時期撮りやすい位置に丁度この銀河を見つけた。

撮影を始めた日にタイ在住で世界でトップクラスのDSO撮影家のMike Salbyさんが同じターゲットをシェアーしていた。

機材もプロセッシングのスキルも全然追いつけないが、私はMikeさんの写真をリファレンスにすることが多い。

この銀河の特徴は

1.渦というよりかはリングに近い構造。

2.そのリングが三つ編みの様な構造をしている。

3.中心に近いリングには鱗の様な細い暗黒帯が並んでいる

4.小さなHii領域がばら撒かれている。

この特徴のうち私が表現できたのは１と２だけという結果だった。
