I came across this galaxy by chance while Planetarium surfing.
The galaxy to the northeast is NGC474 (an elliptical galaxy), also known as a shell galaxy.
The blue galaxy next to it to the west is NGC470 (a spiral galaxy).
Both galaxies are about 100 million light-years away, and the two interact with each other (Arp227).
The third, fuzzy galaxy to the south is NGC467 (a lenticular galaxy). Located about 60 million light-years away, it's unrelated to Arp227, but its shape is significantly distorted due to interactions with smaller galaxies nearby.
Although this shell galaxy appears to be a spiral galaxy at first glance, the surrounding arm-like layers are called shells. It's said that repeated collisions with several smaller galaxies resulted in the fragments breaking apart and forming a shell-like structure. Some of the galaxies resemble whiskers, and it took several days to photograph them just to see them.
The white area stretching from northwest to southeast is not a gradient, but an actual interstellar cloud. It's quite dense, so I adjusted the brightness.
